Running Shoe Technology Takes a Huge Leap Forward

The new adidas 4DFWD is the ultimate running shoe for people who want to break records, enhance performance, and surprise themselves. They are one of the most tech-advanced running shoes that money can buy.

As a runner are you often confused about which shoes to buy? We all have favourites that have been tried and tested over many miles and years. But when it is time for a change do you go for a neutral, stability, motion control or a cushioning shoe? While this often depends on your running style and your foot strike, there is one new shoe on the market that is for all runners – the adidas 4DFWD.

When it comes to running shoe innovation adidas is a leading player in footwear technology and with the launch of this neutral shoe they don’t disappoint. Using 3D printed midsole technology 4DFWD is not only functional but probably the most comfortable shoe you will ever own and suitable for any type of running from jogging in the park to marathon training.

adidas

The adidas 4DFWD lattice midsole is a collaboration with Carbon Digital Light Synthesis™ technology making adidas one of the first in the world to use this cutting-edge technology. Identified from one of five million possible lattice structures, and years of research and work by adidas designers, product testers and athletes. The result is a shoe that minimizes the impact between the foot and the ground by redirecting the impact into forward motion.

When a foot impacts the ground, it applies braking forces which is where the 4D lattice midsole comes in to play – when compressed it reduces these forces and redirects the impact into a forward motion. Furthermore, the midsole is eco-friendly consisting of 40 per cent natural and renewable materials.

The recent launch also included the introduction of the 4DFWD PULSE, which combines 4D technology in the heel with EVA foam in the midsole. The heel is angled to help absorb impact creating a more cushioned, softer landing which will greatly benefit heavy heel strikers. For added comfort and support the three-layered Primeknit+ mesh upper in the PULSE fits like a sock and allows the foot to breathe easily.

adidas 4DFWD really does take 4D technology to the next level, enabling us to design in a way that conventional foam midsoles do not allow.

Charlotte Heidmann, Product Manager, adidas Running

“Working closely with Carbon, our product teams, and testers we identified one perfect lattice midsole that is designed to compress forwards under loading and counter mechanical forces whilst delivering a unique gliding sensation for our runners.”

The 4DFWD isn’t just about comfort – but colour. Initially launched in black with red accents the shoe is now available in five colours including a vibrant green that is sure to turn heads.

A world leader in high-performance products, adidas has produced a shoe that will give you endless hours of running comfort.
