Join elite athletes and amateur runners alike as they run the 26.2-mile route under the city’s sunny skies. Run through 29 of Chicago’s vibrant and character-filled neighbours, enjoying a cultural and architectural tour of the north, west and south sides of the city as you push your body to its limits.

One of the largest and most exciting marathons in the world, more than 40,000 participants line up in Grant Park each October, surrounded by Chicago’s skyscrapers and bustling city. Known as Chicago’s front yard, Grant Park is also the finish line to the race.

With such a flat route seeing little elevation, the Chicago Marathon is one of the fastest routes you can tackle, which adds an extra element of interest in pacing yourself.

The energy is electric when the race begins, with thousands of participants fuelled by adrenaline and the cheering excitement from spectators. Don’t just think about being part of the buzzing atmosphere – make it happen.

Guaranteed entries are available for time qualifiers, legacy athletes, charity runners and international tour programs, with the non-guaranteed entry applications open to anyone who is not eligible for a guaranteed entry.

Registration for the race is open from now until 2 p.m. CT, or 1 p.m. MT on November 17. Sign up now for your chance to be part of the field on Oct. 8, 2023. Visit chicagomarathon.com/apply to learn more.
