Are your health and fitness goals the same as when you were 20 and invincible? Didn’t think so… That’s why fitness is personal. And for 30 years Calgary’s One On One Personal Fitness has been helping its clients live healthier lives one workout at a time.
Owner Sandra Bueckert and her team have seen the people they train and mentor evolve over the years and the business has evolved right alongside. As One On One celebrates this milestone 30th anniversary in 2019, they are as relevant now as they were on Day 1.
“When I started One On One I was 23 and it was all about vanity, building muscle and training to compete. Now, at 53 it’s about sanity and prevention,” says Sandra. “Age is the great equalizer and I’m a part of the resistance. I remind our clients of the importance of strength training for health and performance.”
“We’ve all got sore knees and necks, shoulder problems and bellies that aren’t as flat as they used to be. We help our clients overcome those challenges. We work with people who want to age well — to develop resiliency and self-sufficiency.”
One On One Personal Fitness operates in a boutique studio on Calgary’s trendy 17th Ave. SW. It’s small and comfortable. Each new client will meet with Sandra for a free hour-long health and fitness consultation. If the goals and connections are right, an individualized program is established.
With expert trainers including Codrut Curteanu, a 19-year veteran at One On One, Broden McLean and Sandra leading the charge, each client’s needs are addressed in every training session and fitness plan.
“There is a lot of satisfaction knowing that I’m helping people live better lives,” says Codrut. “I am committed to my clients, helping them reach their goals, age well and be fit and independent through exercise.”
Elizabeth Walsh, 56, is a finance executive in Calgary who has been training with One On One for 20 years.
“I chose One on One many years ago as I wanted to gain muscle, become stronger — become overall fit,” says Elizabeth. “I knew the best way for me was to be with experts and to have appointments that I knew I would not miss.”
So how does Sandra do it? She stays true to her clients and to science. Results don’t come without commitment to exercising your body and eating properly.
“I’ve never been the person to look for a quick fix and my clients trust that,” says Sandra. “It’s effective, conservative advice. We don’t offer fads and gimmicks here. One On One is the home of sweat equity.”
It’s also about people.
“Every client has different goals and different issues to consider. We get it. We understand,” says Sandra. “There’s no one-size-fits-all at One On One.”
If you are ready to expand your path to physical and mental health, maybe it’s time to give Sandra and her team a call at One On One.
