IMPACT Magazine will put out a free digital Summer Edition – offering free advertising to everyone in the health, fitness and sports industry (and beyond) affected by COVID-19

As Canada’s premiere Health, Fitness & Sports Publication we are announcing today that after 29 years of publishing, we will be releasing a special Summer Digital Edition. Anyone in the health, fitness and sports industry experiencing significant revenue losses due to COVID-19 will be offered free advertising in this edition in the spirit of goodwill.

“Our industry has been hit very hard,” says Publisher and Founder, Elaine Kupser. “I knew immediately back in March that this just wasn’t the time to be asking for advertising dollars when most of our clients were shut down without warning. We decided to pause for two print issues, pivoted and focused on our online presence, and moved into community service mode.”

Since the lockdown began, we have been offering complimentary social posts, have hosted industry town halls, curated comprehensive lists of free online workouts and Canadian virtual race events, and developed our own SWEAT ACROSS CANADA free live-streamed weekly workout series taught by Canada’s Top Fitness Trainers. Plus, readers will be able to enjoy a ‘Best of IMPACT’ Food & Nutrition special digital edition coming at the end of June 2020.

“The key word here is free; for clients, advertisers and readers,” says Kupser. “Perhaps it’s a great way to go out of business, but if you can’t help people during a global pandemic, then honestly, when?”

As a small business, IMPACT Magazine has also been adversely affected by COVID-19. Approximately 95% of revenues came to a halt as a result of the pause in print publishing. “It hasn’t been an easy road, but we are committed to supporting those who have supported us over the years – our loyal clients and readers, our community, our IMPACT family, and putting our support behind new businesses. Despite the challenges, it has been an incredible time to establish new relationships and focus on our core values,” says Kupser.

How it will work:

IMPACT Magazine will publish a July/August Special Summer digital edition. This special issue will have the same quality content our readers love, and will feature editorial relevant to the moment, including:

  • The Business of Fitness – how the fitness industry has been affected, inspiring stories of resilience, and plans for a safe comeback.
  • The 2020 Race Industry – a look at how our race events have been affected by unprecedented cancellations.
  • Support Local Travel with Staycations – let’s be tourists at home adventuring in our own backyards.
  • 2020 Trail Running Shoe Reviews – it’s time to head for the hills with this year’s picks!

“I started this magazine out of a passion to help people live healthier lives, and to promote and elevate others in the fitness and business community. We are here to help. Together let’s find ways to sustain our businesses for the future, and keep our communities healthy,” Kupser concludes.

We have appreciated the outpouring of support from the community over these past few months, and we plan on coming back strong in print with our September/October 2020 Edition, which will be one year out from our 30th anniversary edition.

For free advertising in this edition for those businesses small or large affected by COVID-19, or if you have a special story or expert advice that you would like to share, contact Publisher, Elaine Kupser, at [email protected].

We will also continue to gratefully accept paid digital, social and newsletter advertising and appreciate your support in any way during this time.
