2020 has seen unthinkable changes for our race and event industry, seeing most cancelled or postponed. From small to large, every event has played such an important part in the wellbeing of our communities, raising millions of dollars for local charities, and making our world a healthier, happier place. Many late summer and fall 2020 events are still holding with firm hope and modified plans for running their events. We will keep you posted.

Reggae Marathon, Half Marathon &10K

The 2020 Reggae Marathon has gone virtual! Registration remains open until November 30, 2020 and runners can complete their choice of event between November to December 6, 2020. Each runner or walker will receive a Digital Finisher Certificate and Runner’s Bib, while post-race each will get a Medal, signature Reggae Marathon T-shirt, and branded tote bag.

The remote Tremblant is your personal sporting challenge, done remotely and from anywhere! Teams of 2 to 12 participants relay each other at their own pace, in the sport activity of their choice, during the weekend of December 4 to 6, 2020. Sounds fun, we bet! This is a walk/run for all ages and experience levels – you choose the route. All you do is lace up and head out your front door. Run your neighbourhood streets; run your park (safely distanced, that is); run your country roads!

Quarantine Backyard Ultra

The backyard ultra is a form of ultramarathon race where competitors must consecutively run the distance of 6,706 meters (4.167 miles) in less than one hour. These distance loops are repeated hourly. The race ends when the last runner or runners either concede or fail to finish the distance within the allotted time frame.

Vancouver Rotary Club Stay-at-Home Bike-a-thon

The Rotary Club of Vancouver’s 36th Annual Bike-A-Thon will be held on Sunday July 12th, 2020. This year’s Ride has been cancelled because of the Corona Virus outbreak. However, you can still participate and raise funds for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in BC by registering for the Stay-At-Home Bike-A-Thon.

Personal Peak Summer Race Series

Try something different with this fun virtual series by the creators of the Quarantine Backyard Ultra (won by Mike Wardian with a staggering 262.52 miles in 63 hours). This series of events aims to see just how far YOU can run in a given time. One male and one female runner from each event who ran the farthest will win. For this event, run as far as you can in 12 hours!

Try something different with this fun virtual series by the creators of the Quarantine Backyard Ultra (won by Mike From the makers of some of the toughest races in Canada, HER QUEST is a women-only virtual race combined with three online speaker sessions that are designed to encourage females of all ages to lace up and get moving. Hosted by the women of Sinister Sports, HER QUEST has 5k, 10k, Half Marathon, Marathon, and 50k distance options. Race entry includes a custom buff & handmade jewellery piece in addition to the virtual sessions.

Run Calgary Virtual Running Festival – Beat Beethoven

Run Calgary and The Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra are collaborating by colliding the wonderful worlds of music and run. Lace up in support of the CPO in the third edition of Beat Beethoven, which is now virtual. Challenge yourself to finish an 8K run or a 4K walk, while listening to a CPO playlist of Beethoven’s music. Your virtual run or walk can be completed anywhere, and on any surface (trail, road, treadmill, track) anytime during the race period.

Fin Island Virtual Trail Run

Let’s join our Saskatchewan running buddies in The Battlefords for their first virtual trail running event – choose a date between August 28 to 30 and run anytime, anywhere. Distances can include 5K, 10K, 16K and the 1K family run. This is a free event, but why not dedicate your 12th annual fin island trail run to a local charity of your choice? Go flat or go hilly, but go somewhere and run!

Boston Marathon

Although the 124th Boston Marathon has been cancelled for the first time in its history, this year it will be held as a virtual event complemented by a series of virtual events throughout the second week of September. Participants in the virtual 2020 Boston Marathon will be required to complete the 26.2 mile distance within a six hour time period and provide proof of timing to the B.A.A. All athletes who complete the virtual race will receive an official Boston Marathon program, participant t-shirt, medal, and runner’s bib. Further details will be available soon.

Run Calgary Virtual Running Festival – The Wild Run for Lemur Conservation

The Wild Run (formerly the Gorilla Run), now in its 16th year, was established in 2004 to raise funds for Mountain Gorillas and other endangered species. Over the last 13 years the race/relay has donated over $110,000 dollars to wild animals threatened with extinction and Run Calgary is pledging to continue their fundraising efforts for conservation. Brought to you by Run Calgary and The Calgary Zoo.

Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon

The 2020 Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon has gone virtual! Run or walk the full distance of your choice anytime, from anywhere between October 1st and October 31st and input your race time via Race Roster. Finisher’s medals and shirts will be available for pickup or delivery. The virtual event also includes two new distance options: a four-person marathon relay and a 10K as well as the traditional marathon, half marathon and 5K.
