Saturday, September 19, 2026 marks the 46th Calgary Police Classic (formerly Calgary Police Half Marathon). Hosted at Cowboys Park, the Calgary Police Classic is Calgary’s only fall road half marathon. It boasts a fast and flat half-marathon course, an 8 km race, as well as a kids’ race for youth ages 2-12. Participants are able to choose between an in-person event on Saturday, September 19, or the virtual race experience that runs from September 20 to October 18.

Race Swag
This year’s finisher medal and race shirt features the CPS HAWCS (Helicopter Air Watch for Community Safety) Helicopter and is the first in a five-year series highlighting different CPS units as the race counts down to their 50th anniversary in 2030.
This year’s swag was designed with local graphic designer Marc Morin. Run Calgary merchandise will also be available for purchase on site during race day.
First Responder Challenge
The Calgary Police Classic First Responder Challenge is back in 2026! Sworn and civilian members from any emergency first responder agency are invited to create a team to compete, and multiple teams can be created within individual agencies. Teams can compete to win prizes for the most collective distance and for the Jason Bramham Spirit Award, awarded to the team that demonstrates the most team spirit and enthusiasm on race day. There are almost 300 first responders already registered, from areas such as Calgary Police Service, Calgary Search and Rescue, and AHS Peace Officers.
Fundraising
This year’s Calgary Police Classic has raised over $15,000 (and counting) in support of the Calgary Police Youth Foundation (CPYF), an organization supporting child and youth crime prevention, education, and early intervention through their nine partner organizations. Over the last nine years, this event has raised over $146,000 for CPYF, with a 2026 goal of $20,000. Activations
There are many exciting opportunities to get involved on Race Day, including a Youth Passport activation in collaboration with the Calgary Police Youth Foundation. Kids on race day win prizes by collecting stamps from partner organizations including the Calgary Police Youth Foundation, Forensic Crime Scene Unit, K9 Unit, Legacy Place Society, Calgary Youth Justice Society, and CPS Recruitment. There will also be photo opportunities with a vintage CPS car and tactical armoured vehicle, as well as exciting entertainment, food trucks, and live DJ.
Volunteers
Run Calgary’s volunteer crew for the Calgary Police Classic is made up of CPS and civilian volunteers alike. Many of our CPS volunteers are leading areas such as awards, venue-set up, charity activation, and more, as well as supporting everything along the way from package pick-up to the start line. As a non-profit, Run Calgary’s Volunteers are essential to the success of any large event. Only a few volunteer spots remain, but check back regularly in case there are cancellations! There are a variety of volunteer roles available to choose from, whether you want to be supporting athletes out on the race course or helping prepare behind the scenes.
On Course Entertainment
The Calgary Police Classic will have 15 cheer and entertainment groups throughout the course consisting of DJ’s, singers, sponsors, and run clubs out on course to bring the energy! The Calgary Fire Department will be on course with a fire truck and staff near Studio Bell. Other returning cheer groups include the Jing Wo Cultural Association, Charming Life Multicultural Arts Association, Midnight Taiko Kai, and Calysto Steel Drums. As well as DJ Kav, a worldwide touring DJ who has worked with, opened for, and toured with artists including Rihanna, Ice Cube, and The Chainsmokers.
