What Else is Happening?

World-class runner André Belibi’s attempts a Guinness World Record

André Belibi is no stranger to extreme challenges, and his previous accomplishments include running across the United States (4500 km) and running from Normandy, France to Rabat, Morocco (3000 km). Currently, Belibi is in training for his attempt to break the world record for a human being packed in ice or “longest duration full-body contact with ice (male),” technically speaking.

And where has Belibi chosen to make his attempt at the record? At the Servus Calgary Marathon Runner’s Expo on Friday, May 24!

Belibi decided to undertake this mission to raise awareness and support for his 12-year-old daughter Kira and the millions of other people around the world with autism spectrum disorder. You can donate to Belibi’s fundraiser here.

Inaugural Wee Wild Ones Diaper Dash

In case you missed Servus Calgary Marathon’s April Fool’s Day announcement about Baby Race Bibs for all participants, they are excited to announce that they’re (for real) introducing the inaugural Wee Wild Ones Diaper Dash!

The event will be held inside GMC Stadium on Saturday, May 25 at 11:30 a.m. during the Runner’s Expo/Package Pick-up. This $10 crawl/walk will be 42.2 feet and is specially designed for athletes who are two and under.

Each athlete will go home with a custom race bib and the fastest baby will be crowned the top Diaper Dasher and take home a prize package worth $200. Have your cameras ready as your little one makes their way to their first finish line!

This event is limited to 60 Diaper Dashers, so head to calgarymarathon.com to secure your spot!

Post-Race Fun

Post-Race Finish Festival in Enmax Park

The post-race festival is pretty much the reason we run, isn’t it? Or is it the glory of personal triumph? Either way, this year’s show will be one you won’t soon forget. With photo opportunities and special displays for the 60th anniversary, top finisher awards and One for the Road Brewing Co. providing free victory lap beers for everyone, it doesn’t get much better than that! DJ Joanna Magik will be providing live entertainment, while finishers sip on a frosty brew at the Beer Garden (which is even bigger than 2023!). Enjoy food trucks, check out the Relax & Recovery Zone with GoodLife Fitness, Massage Heights, and XACT Nutrition, and, of course, we couldn’t forget about the little ones. We have the Sport Calgary Kids Zone with free interactive activities for the kids to enjoy!

After AFTER Party at Cold Garden Beverage Company

Keep the celebrations going with Cold Garden Beverage Company! Beginning at 5 p.m. on Sunday, May 26, those wearing their finisher medal will get a free drink. Carry on the post-race party vibes and celebrate your incredible achievements. Congratulations, you did it!
