The research that goes into buying a new home can be a time-intensive process.
While many homebuilder websites give house hunters a taste of what they build and where it’s offered, their information only goes so far.
Then it’s up to the homebuyer to spend time calling, texting, emailing and visiting builder sales centres to uncover many of the difference-making details.
How much is a basement development? What are the main floor options and what do they cost? What are the standard features offered with this model?
Shane Homes has a solution, offering a unique level of transparency through its new Build and Price tool.
“They can review what home models are available in what community, and get a sense of the types of changes they can make to the floorplan,” she adds. “The best part is that they can see how these changes affect their price.”
The tool can be accessed through one’s computer or smart device at buildandpricemyhome.com, allowing them to conduct their research when and where they’d like.
“Shane homes is serious about providing the best customer experience period,” says Gowans. “Every touchpoint people have with us should be an awesome one. We aim to make home building fun and easy, which is what this tool is all about.”
The process starts by selecting the city and community in which the homebuyer would like to live.
From there, a list of the community’s models is displayed, each with a starting price, including the home and lot, and the number of bedrooms and bathrooms.
After picking the model, they can browse the options available to them on the various levels of the home and what they’ll cost.
Need a place to work from home? The buyer will be able to see if a main floor study is available on the model they selected and how that influences their purchase price.
Once they’ve customized the floor plan, they can learn about each elevation available for that model and make their pick.
The elevation they end up using, however, will be based on what’s available on their block according to architectural controls.
Finally, the buyer is able to view a complete list of the standard features in that home and select a specification package if a choice for that model is available.
The information on this home, including the selections made using the tool, and pricing are then emailed and texted in PDF form to the person who made them.
“Build and price makes the initial research phase easier,” Gowans says.
Once they figure out roughly what model, community and options are important to them, it’s time to meet with one of Shane’s experts.
“Our area managers will review what they have started, make suggestions and educate them on the process providing support throughout,” Gowans adds. “Our team can also customize and change almost any floorplan to better align with a home buyers’ wish list.
All of our online tools are there for customers who wish to research and buy that way. It’s what people want and are asking for, so we are happy to deliver.”
