Makes 12 bits

The core recipe originated from The Thrive Diet. I made a few tweaks to suit my palate. I will often make a large batch of Canoeist Bits and freeze them. This way I always have pre-workout energy food available.

Prep time: 30 minutes
Cook time: 10 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 cup soaked pitted dates
  • 1/2 cup sunflower seeds
  • 1/4 cup roasted pumpkin seeds
  • 1/4 cup carob powder
  • 1/4 cup ground flaxseed
  • 1/4 cup macadamia nuts
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 mashed banana
  • 1/2 cup hemp seeds
  • 1/4 cup coconut oil
  • 2 tsp. sea salt
  • 1/4 cup shredded coconut

Directions

Soak dates in water for about 2 hours. Preheat oven to 210F. In food processor combine all ingredients (except shredded coconut) until smooth. Shape into bite sized balls and place onto oiled cookie sheet. Bake for 10 minutes.
