Writer’s Guidelines

The articles included in IMPACT Magazine are provided primarily by experts in the industries of health, fitness, and sport performance. IMPACT Magazine is a valuable source of information to the public about Canada’s individual sport and fitness world and, as such, all editorial should have a focus on these topics. Please familiarize yourself with back issues of IMPACT Magazine to ensure you are familiar with our editorial mandate and focus. All published materials are purchased on a “first time in a regional market” basis for publication in the print magazine and on the IMPACT Magazine website. Although writers maintain ownership of their commissioned content, the story may be re-used after publication in IMPACT Magazine, however, should not be in a competing market.

IMPACT Magazine rarely accepts submissions “on spec.” Please approach the editor with a written query, outlining the parameters of the article, the length, sources, etc. before submitting a completed manuscript. We do not accept articles that profile and promote a specific business or service as this is considered Sponsored Content, which we accept.

IMPACT Magazine publishes four magazines per year; submission deadlines are provided depending on publishing deadline. Email the article in a Microsoft Word or text format (Mac or PC format). IMPACT Magazine also accepts online-exclusive content, with deadlines for these articles confirmed by the editor.

The length of published articles varies. Department stories range from 400 words to 1,500 words. IMPACT Magazine compensates writers whose qualifications and work meet our specific guidelines (available from the editor). We are happy to accept photos or illustrations and will give photos credit where due. Digital images must be a minimum of 300 dpi for use in print.
